I was on my way to a different water's edge when I made this image. My plans for the morning's adventure were derailed immediately when I drove past the Crystal Springs Reservoir on the way to Half Moon Bay, and saw the beginnings of an incredible sunrise. I turned around and zoomed back to this spot, and waited. I made many images while the sky was changing, but this was the very best of them at peak color. While I was there with my camera and tripod, about 5 different people stopped to make an image with their cell phones. It was lovely to say a cheerful good morning to fellow early-risers, all of us delighted by our choice to be up before dawn on a Sunday morning.
