Sometime between the World Wars, a construction company in Amesbury, England was commissioned to build a puzzling structure of stone pillars, arranged in a circle. The mysterious benefactor remained anonymous—their motivations unknown to this day.

While "Stonehenge" has become a major tourist attraction, few photos exist of the construction itself. This early film slide depicts the late phases of production, including some of the industrial equipment used to move and stack the now-famous pillars.
