This location only works between high and low tide times. The jagged West facing rocks become uncovered and act like water chutes for the incoming waves.

BLUE MOTION. collection image

Having spent my entire life living close to the coast I have always had an affinity with the ocean, a place that is constantly changing with each tide, ebbing and flowing. I am drawn to it and find it very therapeutic to create images of this changing environment.

Blue Motion is a collection of 12 1/1 long exposure seascape images taken during the past 10 years and all captured in low light conditions. During long exposures the ambient light shifts towards a cool blue tone. It is tempting to correct or warm this blue tone but I have always embraced it doing very little in terms of post production.

Producing these images involved a lot of waiting for the right lighting and weather conditions. Tide times also played an important part, ultimately waiting for the right wave to create the desired effect.

This collection pays homage to my favourite place - where the sea meets the land.
