This was clicked way back in 2016. He was a regular at the holy town Pushkar. He certainly was not from India. Reminded so much of Dumbledore.

I saw him sipping tea sitting in one corner of a small tea shop. We had made eye contact many times earlier and had exchanged silent greetings. I knew it was a golden chance for me to click his portrait. I grabbed a chair right opposite him and ordered my tea. We made eye contact and immediately I picked up my camera quietly requesting him to take his portrait. He looked at my camera and started staring away as if he did not care whether I took his portrait or not. I clicked his image. The sound of the shutter made him look toward me. I quietly asked if he wanted to see the image. He didn’t react nor did he look away. I got up to show him the result. He seemed to like it and again started looking away. I clicked one more image and then he got up and left.

This is a rare image because despite having met him several times, I could take only two images of him. Also have not seen his portraits from anyone, anywhere.

TRACES OF LIFE by Jassi Oberai collection image

Most photographers are reclusive and so am I. A fascination for black and white portrait photography is basically a perspective of my inner self whether it is expressing that sparkling moment or grim state, flawed self or strengths, and most of the times that wanderer in me which I gathered by traveling all over. These images are a stretch of my imagination of putting all that theory into realization, it is a portrayal of traces of life! Traces of life because it unfolds the intrigue of the mystical nature of life itself.
