On July 28, 2021, the digital source files containing the Aku artwork were beamed into space and relayed by a constellation of satellites to commercial servers resident aboard the International Space Station. The files were authenticated in Earth’s orbit, transmitted back down to Earth, and minted as authenticated NFTs. Within this otherworldly NFT contains an authentic digitization of the original flag worn by Buzz Aldrin on his mission to the moon in 1969. Aku’s digital artwork and Buzz Aldrin's flag traveled over 125,000 miles in space, including a complete orbit of Earth aboard the International Space Station.
