For me, "I want to be an astronaut" has a totally different meaning than what most people would think. Sure, I would love to be a REAL astronaut, but the odds of that are, of course, very slim. What I mean is- since 2017, I have been photographing countless people in this astronaut suit. I always wished I could fit in it- especially while traveling (finding random models in the middle of nowhere is hard), but I was extremely overweight. It was affecting me in multiple ways- mostly physical- but also mental.
I decided to take control of my health and have lost over 105lbs (and counting) since September 2023. Finally, I can be an astronaut!
I've been taking a lot of self portraits in the suit for the past few weeks. I set my tripod up and put a remote trigger in the thumb part of the right glove. This isn't the easiest task- I have to keep walking back and forth from where I am to the camera in a hot hot suit to check the shots 🫠
Here's a self-portrait from a rad location!
