Crafted from salvaged circuits and gleaming wires, a testament to the ingenuity of the discarded, the robot stands defiant amidst the ruins. Its metallic form, a chaotic symphony of repurposed parts, hums with a strange energy, the echoes of forgotten functions whispering through its circuits. Though cobwebs drape its exposed components like mournful shrouds, its luminous core pulses with a defiant spark, a testament to the enduring spirit that transcends even the most obsolete parts.

In the early 2000s I bought a large box of random vintage toy robots off Ebay. After some further research I began to disappear down the rabbit hole of collecting largely vintage Japanese robots from manufacturers such as Cragstan-Yonezawa, Horikawa, Masudaya and Yoshiya.

Eventually I thought it was time to fuse my love of these beautiful objects with my art practice, creating an imagined series of robots, generated, or "descended" from the robots I've collected over the years...
