The Reunification Monument was built between 1973 and 1976, after the President of the United Republic of Cameroon, Ahmadou Ahidjo, launched a national and international competition to construct a symbolic monument to commemorate the reunification of French-speaking and English-speaking Cameroon. Located in the capital city Yaoundé, the Monument is situated inside a small complex along a garden and a statue.
