New beginnings

Daffodils represent rebirth and new beginnings. Every year on my birthday in April, I make my way to western Canada for the tulip festival. In 2020 I decided to take a road trip alone and cross the US border to Skagit Valley to capture the daffodils before the tulips started to bloom.

Believe it or not, this is where I was the day Covid closed our borders and I had to end my road trip early and head back to Canada when they announced we needed to get home.

There was no one at this festival in Skagit Valley because of the rapid covid spread and I was so blessed to have it to myself for one day. Admittedly, this is the only shot I got from here. I wandered the fields for hours just lost in thought, admiring these endless fields of yellow.

Daffodils & tulips are my favourite flowers because they represent a new season approaching full of warmth, inspiration and colour.
