A Monet influenced work, this piece is my most successful look at impressionist art. This pallet was an attempt to use Monet's flow of colors along with a scene that described the void a late friend left. The colors were pulled directly from the photographs I took of her dad spreading flower petals off the beach in Long Island. Those colors remind me that, although the feeling portrayed by the man on the pier is one of loss, I was incredibly lucky to have gotten to call her a friend. These colors remind me of the nuances of our friendship no one would know that made me feel so empowered in my fight for sobriety. Looking back, I wish I had not hidden from you with escapism. There was and is solace in getting to put colors to such a vibrant loving personality even with the burden of loss.
