Ice caves at the Baikal are formed by splashing waves inside the grottoes and rocky islands from November till Jan at the beginning of the winter before the lake freezes.

At first, when I saw these caves and the crazy ice formations, I was shocked by the beauty of nature. This amazing wonder is created by the water, wind, and extreme temperatures.

This photo is the consequence of a dream. Photography for me is dreaming and thanks to it, I have been able to fly to many destinations. This dream became something more. Siberia was a destination I wanted to go to for several years but never had the opportunity. Finally at the end of February and just before the covid pandemic started, I had the opportunity to go. My wife told me, I don't think it's a good idea, covid is spreading very fast.... but I didn't listen to her, I didn't know when I would have the chance again and I went. Well, this trip caused me to be separated from her for nine months. On the last day of the trip, they canceled the return flights. The only option I had was to go to Spain and be with my mother but I could not return home with my wife for nine months. Sometimes following dreams can turn into something totally unexpected.

As an international collective, we are excited to be able to bring together images from Greenland, Finland, Russia, Scotland, Antarctica, Switzerland, France, Iceland, Germany, Canada, New Zealand, and Patagonia.

Landscape photographers go to great lengths to reach these magnificent locations in extreme, and sometimes treacherous conditions to capture their grandeur & beauty, and highlighting these efforts was also part of the concept behind the collective.

Finally, in the next few generations, it is expected that some of these regions will cease to exist as they do today, with the cycles of glacial expansion and contraction seemingly disrupted, and greater levels of retreat occurring in a number of areas. If these fragile regions do become unrecognisable from their current state, these images will form an important documentation of their history.
