this work is a representation of an acrylic frame that used to sit on my desk. it was filled with a few notes i found during my last move that made me appreciate my journey, the people around me, and reminded me of who i am — and always will be. times change, friends fade, situations go sideways — but what is here to stay will always come back and never go away.
i consider these types of collages “trophies” and i enjoy making them for others also. i find them helpful for when we feel the temptation to focus on the negative and fill in the blanks. to cling to assumptions, worry about what’s said behind our backs, and get social media whiplash. no one is strong enough to shoulder it all on their own.
that's why my philosophy is to make it clear, not just to tell people what they want to hear. to take a risk and be sincere. notes and compliments are eternal artforms — absorbed or preserved, planned or in the moment, they are little bits of magic that stick with us.
