He once showed up unannounced to an apartment party in Austin with the band, 'The Like’. Bill told one partygoer, "I'm a roadie. When they arrived Bill somehow convinced the cops to join the festivities. Of the night, Bill said, “I don’t want to argue which family of instruments are most important, but you never know when the tambourine guy can come in handy.”
