Pollen is a project that originally started as a series of Zoom sessions and blossomed into 20 songs over the course of a few short months.

Collaboration can be a very hit or miss experience. Sometimes the vibe in a room can be off, sometimes the styles of genres simply don’t align. But when Lucas (Bloody White) and I (Daniel Allan) met, we immediately found a balance in working together. We quickly realized that we were both good at the things the other was bad at, so we began setting up sessions twice a week to work on as much music as we could. The music we were writing felt frictionless, honest, and timeless. It felt like we were exploring the dark side of my production and the light side of Lucas’.

After making an absurd amount of music, we came to the realization that we should start a band together. We started mood boarding, making even more music, and writing mission statements. We came up with our cross pollination strategy - the belief that the more genres we could intersect the less we had to bind ourselves to any one sound in pursuit of creative happiness.

As $OVERSTIM started to change my life, Lucas began finding his early footing in Web3. Our attention became spread thin, and the timing of Pollen became more and more out of reach. But if there’s one thing we’ve both learned about Web3 it’s that overthinking can be a true Achilles heel, and good music deserves to be out in the world instead of locked on a hard drive.

Jealous is a song about paranoia in an unstable relationship. Everybody knows what jealousy feels like in whatever form it may present itself. It's a harsh, primal feeling. The contrast between the lyrics and instrumental, for us, paints a picture of what it feels like to suppress and play off those doubtful thoughts.
