Twilight is by far my favourite time of the day to photograph.
The sun has dipped below the horizon and it is now the earths turn to reflect the colours of the atmosphere through diffusion and light.
On this particular evening I had hiked for a couple of hours to get to the Pouakai Tarns situated on Taranaki Maunga (Mount Taranaki) in New Zealand.
I waited for the sun to set and the purples and pinks of twilight to fill the sky around this magnificent mountain.
Taranaki Maunga is famous for hiding in the clouds and it can take countless attempts to try and see this elusive mountain. I was lucky enough to be graced with his presence finally after many attempts and even luckier to get a reflection at the Pouakai alpine tarn. To say I was happy was an understatement!
I have since repeated this hike twice and not seen another reflection or pink sky!
Thankful as always that mother nature allowed me to witness such a scene.
