“Ark" is a series of artworks that includes audio and video images as well as AI paintings. The works are inspired by the giant cargo ships on the Huangpu River of Shanghai, but the various buildings connected out of nowhere show absurdity and unease, presenting an apocalyptic style as a whole.
The "Ark" series is an extension of the image of the ark in art and literary history. In the Bible, Noah's ark is a symbol of survival and redemption, a hope for humanity to seek safety and salvation in the flood of the end times. However, the giant ships in this series attempt to break the stability of the ark in traditional impression, just like the large ship carrying young people in William Golding's "Lord of the Flies", bringing disaster and destruction, ultimately leading the children off the course of humanity. Through "Ark", the artist conveys a sense of insecurity about the future, while also expressing humanity's desire to survive in the future, even if this elusive hope may be nothing more than a mirage.
