Johannes Gutenberg (1400-1468) was a German inventor and publisher, who introduced his mechanical movable-type printing press to Europe. His work started the Printing Revolution. His many contributions to printing include: a process for mass-producing; oil-based ink; adjustable molds; mechanical movable type; and a wooden printing press. He combined these elements into a practical system that allowed the mass production of printed books economically viable. The tools of BMR·Gutenberg are the printing press and printed books.
