The work “Yakou” was created between April and May 2024.

It is a photo tracing work. The base of this work is a pharmacy in Shimokitazawa, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, 15 years ago, in 2009.

In 2009, I was living in Tokyo and had only been painting for about two years, and I was still copying anime characters that I liked at the time in between my music activities, long before I reached my current art style.

I would never have dreamed at that time that I would use a street corner photo I casually took in those days to create a work of art in the year 2024.

I was using a cell phone that was released in 2005, and the quality of the pictures I took with that camera was incomparably worse than today's. I had a very difficult time in creating this work, but I enjoyed the process of literally reconstructing the pictures.
