DFace is a well-known street artist recognised for his British Urban contemporary art. Since childhood, he had developed an interest in graffiti through skateboarding, punk culture and magazines, like Thrasher. The graphic images, punk references, and skateboarding designs within the magazine inspired the clean, vivid nature of his paintings. After learning to screen print his own stickers, he took the public domain of the street as his canvas. His work was very recognisable due to the use of cultural icons he used, such as Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth, etc. These paintings quickly spread across the cities, and became very popular. He wanted to encourage people to not just ‘see’, but to look at what surrounds them and their lives, reflecting our increasingly bizarre popular culture, re-thinking and reworking cultural figures and genres to comment on our ethos of conspicuous consumption. Even today, DFace continues to approach his work with the same anarchic energy that drove his career from the outset.
D*Face has always worked digitally to a greater or lesser degree and the NFT art-space has allowed him to explore his work fully rendered in a manner he hasn't been able to before. If street art’s main draw is that it exists for all to see within the public domain, digital artworks are taking that to the next level, to a worldwide community of art.
His murals can be found in London, Barcelona, New York, Tokyo, amongst many others and his subversive-pop style and iconic D*Dog logos have become an inseparable part of British Urban art and its ever expanding medium.
DOG CRUSH
The answer to unrequited love? Why, it’s DDog stickers of course! Okay, maybe not but this is one of DFace’s best located murals to date and most prominently features his iconic D*Dog logo. High up on a busy New York street, the distraught damsel watches passers by, whilst shielding her teary eyes behind a clutch of stickers. Will someone in the crowd come to her aid? Who knows!
D*Face's collection is being displayed as part of the STREET ART ALIVE experience at THE LUME, Los Angeles. A selection of animated artwork pieces have been exclusively curated by Artflow NFT. "Dog Crush" is a a high quality digital animation NFT and has 10 limited editions available.
