Sicily (37.6000° N, 14.0154° E)
The Global Topography Project utilises terrain elevation data to create unique artwork. The collection is semi-generative with the aim of producing interesting work that reflects the beauty of geography. Vol.1 contains 25 pieces from locations around the world. Some of these locations were chosen because they are iconic, others have a story behind them.
While incredible the stretch it took to allow a geography school trip to Sicily just because of Mt Etna was a big one. If you have the opportunity to visit Sicily not only is it beautiful it is also incredibly interesting geographically. With that said as a group of 17/18 year olds, it’s fair to say the geography wasn’t a priority for any of us. While not emotional it was the last trip I took with some people I had been at school with for 13 years and so it’s definitely a time I look back fondly on.
Welcome to the Global Topography Project. This is a limited collection of semi-generative digital paintings that utilise terrain elevation data to highlight the beauty of geography. The Project utilises iconic locations from around the world, some of which have a personal story behind them.
