King Durian approves of their scent when dispersing, that's for sure. The harmless odor is caused by a breakdown of asparagusic acid. Your genes affect whether you can smell these sulfur byproducts. If you can't, that's called asparagus anosmia. 🤮
🌱 FUN FACT: White asparagus is not genetically induced in any way. Instead, the lack of pigment in albino spears results from the absence of sunlight. Farmers pile soil over the emerging spears and cut them off from below to produce the ghostly novelty. Purple asparagus, on the other hand, is a genetic variety. But don’t get too excited – it reverts to green when cooked.

These little fresh foods were created 13 years ago. A company I worked for needed unique characters for a growing brand. Sadly, the project fell through, and our sector was shut down.
Luckily, the FMC had a purpose! We took our shovels and unearthed the one-of-a-kind produce from the file garden to serve the hungry collectors. Watch as we grow! 🌿
