On July 29, 2021, a beautiful storm raged overhead as I was driving towards Sonoita, Arizona. I stopped on a precarious hill near the storm's base to capture a rainbow forming to the east. Within seconds of setting up the camera, a bolt overhead thankfully reached out and landed between the two rainbows forming. You can see the bolt narrow as you look to bottom of the image, indicating the bolt overhead was far closer to my location and continued out to a strike point in the distance. Thankfully.

un·daunt·ed : Not intimidated or discouraged by difficulty, danger, or disappointment.
In all my years pursuing extreme weather, the difficulty in capturing extraordinary images isn't necessarily left to the inherent risk factors of storm chasing. Avoiding injury or death from lightning, tornados, flooding, these are all known risks to the extreme weather photographer. But professionals understand how to at least mitigate risk by accurate forecasting, and trying to stay one step ahead of the storm. The difference between those who excel and those who quit is determination. For every disappointment, for every mile driven, for every time a camera is destroyed from high winds, there is an extreme weather photographer who persists. They are undaunted in their pursuit for the extraordinary.
