I was walking around at a street market in Cottage Grove, Oregon today, and I came across a vendor named Charles, with a sign on the front of his table that said "Poetry".
I asked what it was all about. His friend said that this gentleman would compose poetry for me on any subject while I waited, on his typewriter..
So I said.. "Challenge Accepted!", and asked him to write me some poetry about Bitcoin.
After I appropriated a donation in cash from my wife, I was directed to a chair and I sat down to wait for my poem to be composed.
While I waited, the friend asked me about what bitcoin was.. so I explained. I'm not sure if Charles was taking in my bitcoin tutorial or just composing from his own head, but his words seemed inspired by some knowledge other than what I was explaining.
After he was finished Charles read it to me (It is part of the delivery of the poem! Do I asked to film it :D )
I was so impressed that I told Charles I would make this into an NFT! (He had no idea what an NFT is.. So I figured there is an opportunity here :D )
- I will send the purchaser the actual typed paper and a 2nd NFT that I will make of the video, if they wish.
I did explain NFTs to the friend, but I get a sense that the message was not quite completely received.
What I didn't tell Charles is that I would give him all the money that I get from it. My goal is to show that NFTs have value, and are a valid pursuit.. To show that his poems can be sent anywhere, to anyone, on the blockchain.
(except about $10.. Cottage Grove is a bit of a drive from my house! My tax on this sale is for gas money to take it to him).
This is my first collection. It consists of a set of older works that I still revisit to this day. Each work made available here has a personal meaning attached that I hope to make more clear in the descriptions.
Feedback is welcome in the #nft-art-discussion channel of my discord. (link below)
