travelling, i have always felt at home. more centered than i could ever be at the place where my mail gets delivered. discovering new places or revisiting old haunts. hearing and speaking other languages, revelling in the challenges each adventure brings. my mind expanding with every mile.

this photograph of Liverpool Street Station in London made me think back: how important travel is to me. how i yearn to be able to travel again. and how grateful i am to have traveled so much that i can journey in my mind to all kinds of places, real and imagined, until that day when it is safe to go back on the road again. my poem voices the yearning and the feeling of restriction as much as the gratitude for those traveller's memories and how they help me cope with being stuck for over a year now. interrupted, like most of the world.

this photograph is also the first of my photographs i uploaded to instagram. after i had decided that yes, there may be someone who finds beauty in it. who resonates with it the way i did when i took it, edited it and revisited it in poetry. and that even if there wasn't. that i had to put myself out there.
