This is the companion page to "Will you write in my notebook #25 - Kareem"
Christopher explained to me that Kareem's handwriting gets this way when he is very nervous. A few days after the interaction Christopher and I were speaking on the phone and he asked Kareem what he wrote. Kareem told us that he was trying to write about his love for football.
This collection of images is apart of a project I started August 14th, 2018. With this project my goal was to give a very intimate experience with strangers in the city of Houston.
Each portrait in this collection has a corresponding notebook page written on by the person in the photo. When giving my notebook to these strangers I offer little to no direction so they may express themselves as freely as they are willing to.
A photo of a stranger on the street can sometimes feel like nothing more than that. With each stranger's handwriting and their own choice of words on paper I felt I was able to connect on a deeper level with them. I hope others are able to do the same.
