This artwork is my reimagining of the frustrated resignation emoji. Usually, the emoji is depicted as an upside-down smiling face, and I use it if I'm being sarcastic, ironic, and, at times, irked. I started the doodle out of frustration while, ironically, participating in a doodling game. It captures my frustration at the time, but also my ability to laugh at any given situation. I started associating with the doodle the more the game went on. Eve M Johnson is an emerging artist residing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Eve has been actively making art since the young age of three and currently works with the National accessArts Centre. As a multidisciplinary artist, Eve works within the centre's visual, digital, and performing arts. Since joining the NaAC in 2021, Eve's work has appeared internationally in the Dolan group exhibition in Seoul, South Korea, and virtually through online NaAC exhibitions. Eve developed an advanced artistic ability at a young age and has preserved this creative drive despite personal difficulties and long-term illnesses. She is proudly on the autism spectrum, has cerebral palsy, and has been described as an outsider artist and savant. Her range of techniques and skills is broad, and she is as comfortable making traditional visual art pieces as she is working with digital arts. She was a finalist in the Alberta College of Art and Design 2012 "Show Off" competition and has displayed her digital art to benefit the American Cancer Society through the virtual world of Second Life.
