Ryan Jason Allen Willert was born and raised in Central Alberta, growing up in the Red Deer and Innisfail area. Raised in a non-native community, he has since reconnected with his Blackfoot roots (Siksika Nation) and uses art and storytelling to teach, explore and inspire others in his native community.
He has created teaching and cultural murals through Artist in Residence programs in various Calgary schools. Ryan’s work can also be seen enlivening many public buildings in Central Alberta including Calgary's Mount Royal University, Margaret Parsons Theatre at Red Deer College, Calgary Sexual Health Centre, and the Central Alberta Realtors Association, Red Deer.
He has contributed to several publications including the second best-selling nonfiction book Coloring It Forward Discover Blackfoot Nation Art & Wisdom, Oh Canada Reads Coloring Books and the Coloring it Forward Calendar.
Ryan Willert is currently a full-time professional artist residing in Red Deer.
The #T7NFT program aims to build community and capacity within the NFT/Crypto/Metaverse space, while intentionally striving to boost Calgary’s creative industries through the intersectionality of new and exciting Blockchain/Crypto technologies. These artists all come from different backgrounds but what brings them together is that all reside or have resided on the Treaty Land.
