Film photography has always been something that I have wanted to try but never wanted to spend the money on. But this past summer I ended up finding my grandmothers old Canon AE-1. A couple months later and I still hadn't used the camera but I was planning a little trip to the redwoods and I knew this was the perfect time to give film a true try. So I purchased some Kodak Gold and hit the road.

The first morning after I had been hiking a little I found this patch of light rays and I knew this was just calling to be my first film shot. So I took it out and fired this shot after messing with some settings and trying to figure out the light meter. And as soon as I hit the shutter and cranked the film forward I was instantly in love. I feel like film has sparked a new life in my photography.

For my first ever film image, I am quite proud of this. Its not the most sharp but its beautiful nonetheless. I think Kodak Gold was a great choice for this scene. Although cheap, the film has a great amount of grain and the warm highlights work so well with the way Kodak Gold read greens.

Now that I have found love in film, my grandmother can live through me. She is no longer alive but when I hold this Canon AE-1 it feels like I am holding a little part of her. All of these elements making this shot all the more special.

Glow Of The Titans collection image

Sequoia sempervirens, also known as the great Redwoods. These behemoth trees stand up to 275 feet tall above the forest floor with a width of up to 36 feet. These trees are extremely rare to find throughout the world, only growing natively throughout the coast of California and slightly into Oregon.

These woods radiate with a magical and mysteries aura, and capturing this was my main goal with this series of images. From the vibrant green ferns to the dark rich soil, the mystical feel stays present throughout. Some say that these forests feel creepy and I can't help but agree. This places feel like it is home to creatures beyond the imagination. From first light all the way into sunset you can find beaming light rays that create explosions of color and contrast, that only add to the fairy tail atmosphere.

These otherworldly forests contain unlimited unique compositions. The atmosphere is in a state of constant change, making the perfect playground for an artist.
