An old legend about the tragic love of Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu says: friends from childhood Sarybai and Karabai swore to marry their children, who were betrothed before they were born. Not waiting for the birth of his son, Sarybai dies while hunting. The growing Kozy and Bayan, who have not yet seen each other, but are bound by the bonds of a marriage contract, finally fell in love with each other.

Time passes and the treacherous Karabai changes his life plans. He promises to give his daughter for the local paluan Kodar, who once saved his flocks from jute. Kodar becomes a barrier between lovers. In this eternal triangle, he was the first to lay down the violent head of a Kozy. Saddened Bayan, in order to take revenge on the killer, resorts to cunning.

She promises to marry Kodar if he digs a well with spring water for her. Kodar gets to work, going deeper, holding on to the hair of the insidious Bayan. The girl suddenly cuts off her braids: Kodar falls into the abyss and dies. Thus, the Kozy are avenged. At his grave, the heroine of the legend stabs herself with a dagger.
