Photography has been my saving grace in life, the ability to articulate thoughts and emotions in a visual form is such a beautiful thing. It remains my beacon of hope for humanity. This image was shot on my Mamiya RB67 medium format camera with Kodak Portra 800 film.
The inspiration for this series came during the height of the pandemic. As the days went by, this overwhelming sense of isolation started to grow. I started to imagine these desolate and abandoned scenes of my normal life turned into scenes from an otherworldly sci-fi film. Places once familiar started to feel like remnants of a long forgotten civilization. These images are a visual representation of those feelings of isolation and the mental and emotional toll that was taken on us during times of quarantine. Once lockdowns were lifted I planned a cross country road trip with my girlfriend and decided I would document the journey using this series of images to visualize the exploration and beauty found along the way. Each of the images in this collection were shot entirely on various 35mm and 120mm films. I also made the suit entirely myself. This series is an ode to the ones who take the risk to explore the unknown and the beauty and growth that can be found through it.
