This image is an expression of the desire to have one's words of praise reach Adonai through authentic intention of kavanah. Going inward to find that authentic place is contrasted by the outward thrust of those words. The prayer shawl (tallit) with its specific knottings and wrappings, represents the initial step of this process. The explosion of red highlights the power of Hallelujah, as it is directed to G-d. Further allusions are hidden in this painting referencing the popular song entitled “Hallelujah." As the lyrics suggest, David had a secret chord of musical notes that he used to praise G-d. The progression of these chords was the basis for the design composition.
