Photograph 2 of 4 using my Pentax k1000 on XP2 black and white at the base of Mount Whitney in California.

Exposure exp v1 collection image

A selection of four photographs using my Pentax k1000 on XP2 black and white at the base of Mount Whitney in California. I was experimenting with light so the photographs are overexposed. I say overexposure as if it is a value judgement on the quality of the photograph when it is not - there is no such thing as overexposure and there is no such thing as underexposure. Okay, from a technical standpoint exposure is measurable because it is the application of light correlated between components of the camera. But my point is exposure is a creative choice and in these photographs overexposure represents the physical environment against one's state of mind when you’re hiking the base of the tallest mountain in the continental US getting blasted by the elements – the hot sun beating down and the wind chilling your sweat; you’re dehydrated, you’re hungry, and you’ve been hiking for hours. Was the exhausting climb worth it for these views? Yes
