Geckos In Paradise #1: Gecko in Paradise | September 2021 | Edition: 1/1 NFT | License: Extended Editorial
The title image of the collection: a gecko takes an early morning drink of the nectar from a Bird of Paradise flower on the island of Kauai.
While staying in Poipu on the island of Kauai, I spotted this gecko drinking from the Bird of Paradise flower on my walk back from coffee each morning. As I approached, the gecko would disappear back into the bushes. After several attempts to get this image, I was finally rewarded with the right light for the colors of the flower and the gecko, who warily kept an eye on me while drinking the flower's nectar.
The Geckos in Paradise collection is 5 images curated from more than 10 years of photographing geckos around the islands of Hawaii. I have been fascinated by lizards since I was a child, and the colors on the gold dust day gecko are particularly bright, from their green scales, the splash of red on their back, to the light blue around their eyes. They are frequently a subject of my photos and this collection shares 5 of my favorites.
A portion of the proceeds from this collection will be reinvested in the NFT photography community.
