Geckos In Paradise #3: Lick My Feet | February 2017 | Edition: 1/1 NFT | License: Extended Editorial

A gecko pauses climbing among the leaves to lick his feet, perhaps trying to help remove some of his shedding skin.

While traveling in Hilo, having hiked out to witness the amazing lava hose spilling into the ocean earlier this morning, I came back to find this little gecko. I often spend time watching Hawaii's geckos, but I had never seen one exhibiting this type of behavior, lifting his foot and his tongue flashing out. After watching for a moment, I felt compelled to capture this image.

The Geckos in Paradise collection is 5 images curated from more than 10 years of photographing geckos around the islands of Hawaii. I have been fascinated by lizards since I was a child, and the colors on the gold dust day gecko are particularly bright, from their green scales, the splash of red on their back, to the light blue around their eyes. They are frequently a subject of my photos and this collection shares 5 of my favorites.

A portion of the proceeds from this collection will be reinvested in the NFT photography community.
