Title: Queen of Coins
Artist: Justin Aversano
Medium: Silkscreen on Dark Papyrus
Dimensions: 16” x 24”
Edition: 1/1
Year: 2022
Additional information: In the Queen of Coins, a woman sits on a stone throne decorated with carvings of fruit trees, goats, angels and other symbols of material success and sensual pleasure. She cradles a gold coin with both hands and looks down on it with loving care, as if to nurture this symbol of wealth and material success. Luscious plants and flowers surround her, representing her connection to Mother Earth, nature, and abundance. A small rabbit jumps near to where she is seated, symbolizing fertility and suggesting that her life is in flow and alignment.

August 7th, 2018 - Present For “Smoke and Mirrors” I am photographing 78 sets of artists, astrologers, psychics, tarot readers, and other forms of mystics from all around the world. Each subject represents a unique tarot card. I am creating a body of work focused on the existence of magic and mysticism through an immersive portrait survey and tarot readings. In the proverb of storytelling, psychics, astrologers, et al. have an assigned position as the all-knowing gypsy with profound visions, within all concurrent and historical cultures—a charged spirit of the ethereal that encompasses destiny, luck, and faith. Mysticism has a deep root in shared folklore, conjuring metaphysical manifestations across the astrological, mythological, academic and the denouement, stringing together tangents of one’s everyday reality with cosmic synchronicity.
