Title: Six of Staffs
Artist: Justin Aversano
Medium: Silkscreen on Papyrus
Dimensions: 16” x 24”
Edition: 2/5
Year: 2022
Additional information: The Six of Staffs depicts a man wearing a victory wreath around his head and riding a decorated white horse through a crowd of cheering people. The white horse represents strength, purity and the successful progression of an adventure, and the crowd of people symbolizes the public recognition for the man’s achievements. The rider holds an upright wand with a wreath tied to the top of it, further emphasizing success and achievement. He is not afraid to show off to others what he has accomplished in his life so far and, even better, the people around him are happy to cheer him along.

August 7th, 2018 - Present For “Smoke and Mirrors” I am photographing 78 sets of artists, astrologers, psychics, tarot readers, and other forms of mystics from all around the world. Each subject represents a unique tarot card. I am creating a body of work focused on the existence of magic and mysticism through an immersive portrait survey and tarot readings. In the proverb of storytelling, psychics, astrologers, et al. have an assigned position as the all-knowing gypsy with profound visions, within all concurrent and historical cultures—a charged spirit of the ethereal that encompasses destiny, luck, and faith. Mysticism has a deep root in shared folklore, conjuring metaphysical manifestations across the astrological, mythological, academic and the denouement, stringing together tangents of one’s everyday reality with cosmic synchronicity.
