Artist Name : Subhran Karmakar
Edition : 1/1
Location : Shaktigarh, India
Collection Name : Monochrome Musings
I took this photograph while I was out on a winter morning at my favourite place for shooting in Kolkata. I’ve seen many wedding photographers bring their clients here for a picture with the Howrah bridge behind. On this day, I saw a shoot going on, I saw the couple and the dog and a bird coming closer. I started composing the picture and suddenly the bird jumped, maybe scared of my camera, so I pressed the shutter immediately. When I returned home to look at the pictures, I saw that I had a great image.

This collection is a group of photographs by me, from a period when I completely shifted to Black & White Photography. It was experimental for me. I use a mirrorless camera and it has a feature that I can see the world in Black & white through the viewfinder. It was also a challenge for me, which helped me refine my photography style and I got really good photographs during that period. I started in 2019, and after a few months the Pandemic came, then I was very curious about how will I complete this project. I continue shooting, I was shooting my surroundings, shooting from a distance but then I was fortunate to complete this project. I captured visual stories, moments which are decisive and unrepeatable. These pictures made me happy when I created them and also, and I can smell the places when I see them.
