Collection Name : Monochrome Musings

It was during the Pandemic, government relaxes the lockdown. I went out for a shoot. I was in Maidan, a large public place in the centre of Kolkata. People visit that place to play and relax. If anyone goes to Maidan, they will see a lot of horses. These horses are some of those horses who are abandoned by their owners when they are not fit to perform in the race. Sometimes they sell these horses to people who use them to pull chariots with tourists on them. During the Pandemic, no one was there to feed them. Look at the body of the Horse. I created an illusion here. The horse and wooden pieces are getting mixed. Humans do not give any value to them. Hence here the Wooden piece and the Horse are the same. The Horse is the “Victim of Greed”.

MONOCHROME MUSINGS - Visual Storytelling collection image

This collection is a group of photographs by me, from a period when I completely shifted to Black & White Photography. It was experimental for me. I use a mirrorless camera and it has a feature that I can see the world in Black & white through the viewfinder. It was also a challenge for me, which helped me refine my photography style and I got really good photographs during that period. I started in 2019, and after a few months the Pandemic came, then I was very curious about how will I complete this project. I continue shooting, I was shooting my surroundings, shooting from a distance but then I was fortunate to complete this project. I captured visual stories, moments which are decisive and unrepeatable. These pictures made me happy when I created them and also, and I can smell the places when I see them.
