Growing up, OCNJ was always a special place. Once my friends and I got old enough to drive, it was the best going down to the shore with my friends. The environment made it feel like I was far from home and on vacation, even when I was only gone for a day. It is a place that brings a lot of nostalgia for me, reminding me of my youth. Running around without parents, eating pizza and ice cream, meeting boys & hanging on the beach on warm summer nights.

On a visit home to Philadelphia in September, I knew I had to take a trip back to OCNJ. As I drove and got closer to the coast, that familiarity, longing for my younger years immediately hit me as I spotted the ferris wheel sticking out like a sore thumb. What is it about places like this that evoke these feelings in you?

During the time that I was there, the ferris wheel was already closed for the season. It was alluring in how lonely, quiet and stagnant it was. An otherwise warm & inviting attraction stood cold and lifeless as it clocked out for the winter.

I wanted to shoot a hyperlapse of the wheel so I snuck in as my friend kept watch. It felt eerie in how quiet it was. Perhaps my hyperlapse gives the lifeless wheel life.

3 timelapses and 3 hyperlapses, two forms of time travel that I really enjoy utilizing. A way to bring my photography to life by stitching a stack of images together to create moving realities. With timelapses, the world moves on its own; with hyperlapses, I move with the world. I hope you feel a snippet of the life I felt while in these environments.

3 timelapses at 3 unique times on Earth; moonrise, sunrise and daytime.

3 hyperlapses depicting 3 different structures from where I grew up.
