Quiver is a Torqued Painting from 2011. The series began in 1998 and has continued to develop over time. The series gets its name from the 'torqued' nature of the surface which curves because of the way the frame has been constructed with alternating depths. When canvas is stretched overtop it results in a torqued surface. The stretcher was taken from the destroyed painting 'Lost in the Surround' from c1999. This painting was one of the first torqued paintings I worked on when I returned from Europe in 2010 and settled back in Canada and marked the start of a personal relationship.
