1/1 NFT. Taken 2015, northwest Colorado. So much is out of my control when I'm out on wild horse territories: the weather, the light, how many horses I can actually see or get close enough to to get an image. And anyone who photographs wild animals likely gets plenty of shots of them walking away. All are valuable lessons in being prepared, controlling what you can, and letting the rest go with grace.

Rare and Wild | Kat Livengood | Wild Horses collection image

My first collection, taken over a 10 year period, came from a life change that meant the end of my business and life as I'd known it, and questions about who I was. I didn't know how to move forward, but knew I needed to reconnect with myself. I’ve loved horses since childhood, so sought out the wild herds of the American Southwest with my camera. I fell in love; not only with the horses and land, but also with living a more authentic life. I was able to turn my attention outward and build a thriving fine art photography business and international collector base from my Santa Fe, NM studio.

Photographing wild horses is equal parts wondrous and heartbreaking; wild herds and land are becoming more rare every day. I focus on that rarity and beauty, in hopes that viewers will share my interest in their preservation.

24 images taken with Canon 5Ds/5D Mark II. All are 1/1 NFTs. Genesis piece minted 6/9/21.

A portion of proceeds from each sale will be donated to wild horse rescue.
