Michelangelo’s David is one of the most famous statues in the world. Michelangelo broke through artistic boundaries to depict the Biblical hero David right before his battle with Goliath. Most of the artists of his time represented David after his victory. The larger than life marble sculpture is a symbol of the Renaissance and Florence, created between 1501 and 1504.
