ACKEE & SALTFISH collection image

Growing up in a West Indian household molded me to see the world in a different light. Understanding the struggles my parents endured before immigrating to America in 1983 has led me to appreciate life's blessings and the importance of being true to myself regardless of circumstance. I've long embraced my heritage through the food, music, and energy but had yet to embrace it first hand.

"What?! You've never been to Jamaica?!", one used to say, but in 2017 I visited my Motherland for the first time. Though my parents resented the idea of me bringing my camera on the trip due to some of the areas I'd visit, I documented my experience; from the clear blue waters on Hellshire Beach to the beautiful struggles in the gullies of Portmore. This trip helped me appreciate the culture that has been an influence on my personality and creativity.

"ACKEE & SALTFISH" Collectors will also receive a 16 x 20 matted frame print.
