About the piece:
Architecture can be defined as art that we reside in. While admiring a destination of heritage value, we often overlook the thought of even clay bricks wanting to be something larger than life. Planning and construction of heritage can be personified as the intricacy of a woman. The wide windows reflect their forgiving and ever- loving hearts, the tall shut doors portray their locked away emotions. The long corridors show their thoughts brewing over time, the damp on the cracks are the tears shed in silence in order to mend the broken heart.
Like the decay in the walls due to time passing by adds to the grandeur of huge historic structures, women also turn their wounds into wisdom with the course of time. The strength of these walls depends on the ones who guard them.
Bringing the light into the darkest corners with their love, they live. Strong enough to hold on and strong enough to let go as well. Without complexities there is rarely any intensity.
Artist: Sammya Brata
Medium: Photography
Edition: Limited to 10
Collection: Split Stories 2.0
Diptych specifications- 1920x2400
Both shots composed in the year - 2020
About the collection:
2 Photos – 1 Story - that is how I define my signature work on Split-screen or Diptych photography! When people ask me about this fairly popular body of work, I very candidly tell them that to begin with, they are extremely difficult to visualize - the execution part comes much later. More often than not, it is quite a daunting task to combine 2 or more frames together into one coherent story since most of them are not remotely connected to each other individually. Since my first collection of 1/1 diptychs received a lot of love and support from the community, I thought of coming up with a SECOND SET – this time with 10 of my favorite split-works to be released in sets of 5 with each piece having 10 editions.
About the artist- Sammya Brata is an award-winning street and documentary photographer, who has won the Canon Photo Marathon India in 2019 and has been an established educator, curator, mentor and a two-time TEDx speaker.

The second set of 5 images would be released once the first is SOLD OUT.
The entire collection would finally comprise of 100 seamless yet evocative collage-compositions created with some of my strongest photographs aimed at conveying a deeper message. Sounds exciting, right?
