About the piece: What makes someone legendary? Is it their celebrated wins? Or is it their most exciting time? It could be the good news that they choose to share with the world or the bad news that they can easily mask under their everyday "good-to-go" face.
Our lives are a tale of light & shadow. We have our share of highs and lows in a lifetime - enough to make it memorable. But what makes someone's time spent on the planet legendary is how they let their moments of light and shadows shape them. The constant reminder that it is okay to be vulnerable sometimes soothes the inner child within us. Going through as well as learning from our dark phases in life, we come to assess everything with our third eye. A third eye is nothing but the knowledge that we've bestowed upon by our endurance to adversities.
This image, captured in Katwa district of Purba-Bardhaman in West Bengal, shows a local man with his face painted for the religious & folk festival, Gajan which takes place in the months of April-May, in all parts of the state in India. Shot in the deepest interiors of rural Bengal, this picture is symbolic of the place we belong. The little kids are immersed in the spirit of wondrous joy while they take a selfie with the layer of face-paint on!
