This painting is deliberately balanced between vivid and duller, darker colours. On some days, you might interpret it positively, or others, more elegiac. Its main inspiration is the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) photograph, a landmark image for humanity which captures some of the youngest and furthest glinting galaxies in our Universe, which on different days I interpret differently — positively on most, but sometimes nihilistic.
But ultimately, this painting is a strong celebration of all ‘this’, what we all experience every day. Yes, the universe is huge, and we within it are not, and life can get super serious sometimes, but remember, it’s all just waves. As are we.
