This is a digital edition of my painting The Foundling from a series of four paintings called Circles. Circles was first presented as a virtual exhibition in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. The whole series including the gallery and soundtrack were tokenized as a whole experience and now the works are made here as individually collectable NFT's.

Circles is a series of four abstract paintings which are based heavily on color experience. With each painting I have been working with one of four themes of the series; loss, letting go, new beginnings and new meanings. I had a very ritualistic approach to the process of painting and there is a strong spiritual and conceptual side to it. I've used paint differently with each piece reflecting on the themes i was working with. The paints themselves I mixed by hand from raw pigments, which for me represented taking ownership of personal experience, that was to be transformed into something shareable and healing. In my mind these paintings make certain kind of archetypes -or giants, as i sometimes like to call them, which together create a tacit story arc.

The Foundling is the third painting of the series and it is about new beginnings. The colors of the paintings come by associations with their themes, but they also have parents in my previous exhibition Cold Mirror, green and blue ones for this one. The color choice was confirmed as i visited a natural spring with a magnificent turquoise color. The name for this painting came later from the recent TV-series The Mandalorian which rejuvenated the magic of my childhood favourite Star Wars. In the spring when the condition of my father got worse, as a sort of meditation i began collecting stones from the ground to lighten my walks home. In particular i searched for a green one,. I didn't know why i chose that one, but a literal green stone was found later in the fall, under an offering tree at a pagan fair. It was about a year from that spring when i found myself in practice of druidry. The painting is worked very lightly to celebrate the joy of discovery in painting and in life.
