The soul - a combination of a face and body, lost in latent space of a neural network. Using AI it can be found. This exhibition focuses on analyzing and understanding found souls.
Every single work is a combination of a body and face, simply - the soul. You can see elements of a face closely, but bodies from far apart. The soul has thoughts, feelings, desires, regrets. Colors, shapes, lines represent them. Whoever's the soul you are looking at is stuck in the darkness; forever.
Contemporary technologies modify our perception of reality. Art is no longer only human-made. This exhibition focuses on exploring non-human (or more correctly not only human-made) art. While AI cannot have any feeling, emotions, desires, works produced by it make us feel something, though, it is nothing else but a matter of chance. This approach changes what it means to be an artist. Now the artist is not only who creates, but also who chooses. As always, art transforms, and now it is more about the choices an artist makes than ever before.
While creating this work, the creator saw thousands of videos like the ones you can see right now. Why have they decided to show you those? Art is also about the process. You can see just several videos, but thousands of others you cannot. Can you think about all the videos that you cannot see?
This work was exhibited in the 2021 Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art Biennial, which took place from April 30 through September 22, 2021. The 2021 mowna Biennial exhibited an international pool of artists selected from 44 countries gathered through a free call for submissions process that ran from January through March of 2021. The Biennial includes all forms of art made from 2019 to 2021. The show has been added to mowna's collection, which is available for viewing online at https://www.mowna.org.
The winner of this auction will receive a 1/1 limited edition NFT, minted by the museum. 70% of the sale will pay the artist of the NFT for their work, with the remaining 30% paying for the creation of the museum platform. The winner will also unlock a free one month membership code for the museum.
