I'm a synesthete including chromesthesia. I am interested in alternative perspectives of seeing including pareidolia and apophenia. I also explored experiences after a 2017 TBI which impacted all of that: many of my works are personal and some are code switching to share my experiences more closely with others.
This work is a collection of explorations of perspective. Mine. Not "what does it mean to be human", but "what does it mean for me specifically to be myself, a human- and can I translate that experience?" My perspective is constantly changing - from catalyst and work. Some of the artworks explore memory, or synesthesia, or music, or dreams, or just where I rest my eyes. One is a deeply personally meaningful stop motion animation reflection on shame & grief during the worst part of my recovery from a TBI. Some are the beautiful patterns I may spot any day in fabric or a cloud. I really enjoy being human, so I hope you enjoy these works examining this table of contents - of my brain.
This work was exhibited in the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art's This Show is Curated by a Machine 🤖, which took place from September 23, 2021 through January 31, 2022. The show is curated by an artificial intelligence which learned to curate by looking at artworks from the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the 2021 Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art Biennial, and other sources. The show has been added to mowna's collection, which is available for viewing online at https://www.mowna.org.
The winner of this auction will receive a 1/1 limited edition NFT, minted by the museum. 70% of the sale will pay the artist of the NFT for their work, with the remaining 30% paying for the creation of the museum platform. The winner will also unlock a free one month membership code for the museum.
