This unique animation is created in virtual reality as a study of movement and performance. Dynamic energy-Taught metal brush strokes-Steel muscle vibration. Part of the initial explorative development arc of the 'Bodies' Project. Departing from realistic representation of the human form; exaggerated, simplified, and abstracted in ways that emphasize certain aspects of the human body or create dynamic composition; challenging traditional representations of the human body or to subvert cultural expectations and stereotypes. 1080 X 1920 mp4.
This project has run for a year. Its various stages demonstrate the thought behind it; from the initial considerations of gesture and mark making, the struggle to find a vehicle to express form and movement, to the final reimagining of the city itself as an artform. The contrast between the refined, graceful movements of ballet and the rough, textured surfaces of the city; frozen moments of bodies in motion, the essence of grace and fluidity amidst the gritty and textured environment cityscape, itself decorated with gesture powered graffiti. The body can be seen as a unified system in which all movements are connected and flow along a single line or axis of force. Portraying the human body as a single line of force isolates the physicality and athleticism of the human body, serving as a unifying element that ties the work together. As the concept progresses by integrating the city as part of the structure of the figure; so, the human form becomes a blueprint for the city.
